Honeymoon Diaries – Day 1

Day1: Embarking on a Voyage of Love Aboard the Ovation of the Seas

February 9th marked the beginning of our eagerly awaited honeymoon cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas, a journey spanning from February 9th to 21st. It was a day filled with anticipation, exploration, and the promise of countless adventures that lay ahead. Here’s how our unforgettable voyage commenced:

Early Awakening and Anticipation

Our day began unusually early at 5 am, with the excitement rendering sleep nearly impossible. The thought of embarking on our first journey as a married couple filled us with an indescribable energy. Despite the early hour, we were brimming with enthusiasm for the adventures that awaited us… at least I was, Stuart much rathered a good sleep in.

A Seamless Start

The boarding process was nothing short of remarkable. We were genuinely impressed by the efficiency and kindness displayed by the Royal Caribbean staff and the terminal staff. The swift and hassle-free experience was a welcome surprise, setting a high bar for the customer service we’ve come to expect. It was evident that airports could indeed learn a thing or two from such efficiency.

Our Stateroom and the First Encounter with Jhoni

Upon boarding, we were introduced to Jhoni, our stateroom attendant. His warm greeting made us feel immediately at home, promising a comfortable and well-cared-for stay throughout our journey.

Exploration and Wonder

We spent much of our first day exploring the Ovation of the Seas. Despite our best efforts, it felt as though we had barely scratched the surface of what the ship had to offer. The promise of further exploration in the days to come left us eager and excited.

As we left the harbor, we witnessed the stunning sight of the harbor bridge diminishing in the distance—a symbolic start to our journey into the new and unknown.

Preparing for the Evening

Our excitement built as we prepared for our first dinner on board. The evening’s dress code was casual, yet stylish—no shorts allowed. However, not everyone adhered to this, and no one got pulled up on it, guess it was more of a suggestion. Before dinner, we joined the line to get my charm bracelet and charms, a delightful and unexpected addition to our evening. I heard from other guests that this was the first time they were doing something like this, so it was awesome to be involved.

A Culinary Adventure in Wonderland

Dinner was an experience we’ll never forget. We chose to dine at Wonderland, a decision met with some skepticism based on mixed reviews we had heard. However, the reality far exceeded our expectations. The ambiance, the food, and the service were unparalleled. Our server, Komang, was exceptional, guiding us through the menu and recommending dishes that were nothing short of culinary masterpieces. The tranquil and relaxed atmosphere of the first night made it the perfect time to visit. We’ve made a mental note to leave a glowing review.

Reflections on Day One

As we retired to our stateroom, we reflected on the day’s events. It was a day filled with new experiences, delightful discoveries, and the start of what promised to be an incredible journey. The Ovation of the Seas had already begun to feel like a home away from home, and we were filled with gratitude for the opportunity to start our married life in such a magnificent setting.
